Carol Darlene (Adams) Naftzger, 69, of Loveland, died at home surrounded by family on May 27, 2014 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born on May 4, 1945 to Leonard and Doris Adams in Holton, Kansas; she graduated from Holton High School in 1963 and Kansas State Teacher’s College in Emporia, Kansas in 1967. Carol worked as both a teacher and lab technician before moving to Loveland, Colorado in 1977, where she met and married her husband, Douglas Naftzger. Carol was a stay-at-home mother for their two daughters, and also played an important role helping to run the family business, Naftzger Electric Co.
Carol was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, a talented quilter, an avid reader, and a seeker of knowledge. She was a life-long learner and continued to take online classes throughout her illness to keep her mind active. She was proud of her individuality and encouraged the same in those around her, raising her daughters to respect themselves, as well as others. She was a generous, compassionate, and strong woman who will be forever missed.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Adams, and her brother, Harold Adams. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Douglas Naftzger, daughters Erin (Christian) Becerra and Lindsay (Eric) Shearer, and granddaughters Mira and Rowan Shearer, as well as her mother, Doris Adams, and sisters, Virginia Monson and Sharon (William) Bohannon, of Holton, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews. A private celebration of life is being planned. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice may be made in Carol's honor.
