Carrie was born on March 28, 1944, to Jewell Glen Ryans and Georgie Marie Fletcher. As the eldest of eight siblings, she naturally took on the role of leader—often enjoying the chance to boss them around. Around the age of 14, her family moved to California in search of better opportunities. Carrie later became a successful entrepreneur, running her own business, Pool Covers Unlimited.
During her lifetime, Carrie married the love of her life, David E. Weiss, with whom she built a beautiful family. Together, they raised three children—Denise, David Jr., and Betsy. Over the years, their family grew, blessing them with seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, all of whom Carrie cherished dearly. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones.
In 2017, Carrie and David, along with their youngest daughter and her family, moved to Tennessee. Later, Carrie relocated to Colorado to live with her eldest daughter, where she was ultimately diagnosed with cancer.
Faith played a central role in Carrie’s life. In 1980, after her husband experienced a transformative “coming-to-Jesus” moment, their entire family joined a church in Poway, California. In 1991, Carrie and David moved to Huntington Beach, where David became the pastor of Hillcrest Missionary Baptist Church. Carrie embraced her role as a pastor’s wife with grace and devotion, finding great purpose in serving alongside her husband.
On February 6, 2025, Carrie Weiss joined her husband, who passed in May 2021, and went home to be with the Lord. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that she is free from pain and at peace in His presence. She would want us to remember not our sorrow, but the joy of a life well-lived and the faith that sustained her until the very end.
