Sent a gift in memory of Catherine D'Amato

My mother Nancy sent me the clipping from the Tribune.  Mrs. Rife D'Amato was my first grade teacher and someone I always thought about.  She also tried teaching me piano but was way more successful with my sister.  I will always keep her in my memory!

Catherine D'Amato (Mrs. Rife) was my first grade teacher.  I was lucky; she was also my piano teacher.  Mrs. Rife taught me to love reading, music, how to take knocks in life, stand up, brush yourself off, and continue.  I cherish my memories of her, I shall hear her laugh forever and always.  She was a gift to our world.

Im so sorry to hear about your
mother's passing. She was my father's cousin--Rod MacLennan
who lived near Fowler in eastern
Pueblo county.
As children we used to visit the
family. I recall the happy times,
the good food from Aunt Maud, the fun we children had, the tales that Uncle Angus told. 
Catherine was a remarkable, good
person. I know you are missing her very much.

Rita, Pat and families,  I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Catherine was an inspiration to me during the years I was obtaining my degree at UNC.  She was genuine in her concern for children and knew how to  reach the potential of every child.  She gave me a methods book which she had written and published.  It was the greatest resource!  I am retired now but the activites  she developed were implemented in my classroom until I began my years as a school psychologist.  Then, I wrote her strategies into the recommendations of my reports.  
She was a lovely lady.  Her legacy will live on.

I read of your loss and wanted to send a note of sympathy. In reading of Mrs. D'Amato's full and long life, all the things she loved and enjoyed one can see she will be greatly missed by her dear family and many friends. How she positively touched the life of so many is wonderful.  I have shared with others two wonderful scriptures that give much comfort at times like these. 2 Cor. 1:3, 4 which speaks of Jehovah God as ""the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation."" and Isaiah 51:12 ""I - I myself am the One that is comforting you people."" I believe we can treasure the wonderful memories and I know you have many of Mrs. D'Amato as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Please know you are in the thoughts of many.

Sorry for your loss, but comforting to know that Catherine led and long and full life and that it included several years she shared with Uncle Pete.

I will miss your mom so much.  She always gave me another ear to bend, another story to share, another shoulder to cry on and strength enough to hold my world up.  My thanks for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful family of strong MacLennan women and for allowing me to share your mom. God has truelly blessed us all for having shared in Aunt Catherine's life.  I will miss my phone conversations with my Auntie Catherine. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  I klove you all. Mrs. Rife (as I always knew her!) was a marvelous educator.  She was my principal at Cameron, and always treated her students fairly.  She was firm but kind, and her students strove to live up to her high expectations.  My deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and colleagues.
