

Catherine "Cathy" completed high school in Clay Center, Kansas and graduated in 1964. Cathy met her first husband, Theodore “Ted” Witte, and they were married on January 10th, 1965. The couple later moved to Greeley, Colorado.
Survivors include her husband John Kruger, whom she married June 1st, 2018, of Greeley, Colorado. She is also survived by her three stepdaughters, Judy, Cheryl, and Susan, and their families; her daughters Tami Ferguson and husband Bill of Greeley, CO, and Cindy Gilreath and husband Jon of Peoria, AZ; two grandchildren, Andrew Ferguson and wife Tamara, and Brandi Orr and husband Cody; one great-grandson, Emmett; and an expected great-granddaughter, Madilyn. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Blixt of Greeley, Phyllis Sanderson and her husband Bill of Mesa, AZ, and brother Don and his wife Carol of Oak Hill, Kansas. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews in Kansas, Arizona, and Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Alice Sutter, her late husband Ted, and her sister Marj Braswell.
Cathy began her career working at the City of Greeley in 1973. She advanced through a couple of positions as Secretary for the Water and Sewer Department, where she retired 36 years later in December 2009.
In 2002, after Ted passed away, Cathy continued to find joy in going to her grandson’s baseball games and watching Andrew play. She loved and enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holiday gatherings. Cathy enjoyed baking, gardening, and puzzle making. She also loved cheering on the Colorado Rockies.
Cathy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She volunteered in many ways to make a difference for the school and church. Cathy’s faith in God and dedication to church brought her to meet her latest husband John Kruger through Trinity. They were married on June 1st, 2018.
In celebration of Catherine, a service will be held on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Humane Society, Kidney Transplant Life Donate, and Bladder Cancer Research.
