Charlene was born January 27, 1930 in Asherville, Kansas to Lloyd and Marie Day. She lived much of her early years on the family homestead farm in Glen Elder, Kansas.
She moved to Fort Collins, Colorado with her family in 1947, graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked as a switchboard operator at the telephone company.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in December, 1948. That was the same year that she met Bob Howe. They were married on March 20, 1949.
Charlene supported Bob while he went to Westmont College, Wheaton College, and later Denver Seminary.
Together they raised four children: Judi, Rick, Becky and Randy.
Charlene worked at the Rocky Mountain Conservative Baptist Association, and later for Centers for Christian Studies International. She helped Bob start a campus ministry at Oregon State University, and later helped start Grace Baptist Church in Greeley, Colorado.
She survived a major stroke and endured progressive illnesses, along with memory loss without complaint, and always a smile. She lived in her home with care from her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sue Howe, until her death.
Charlene lived a joyful, Christ-centered life. She excelled at anything with a keyboard, including computer and piano. She was well-known for her beautiful soprano voice. She cared deeply about her family, her church, and doing the best she could at everything she did.
She is survived by her children Judi Brandow, Rick Howe, Becky Moore, and Randy Howe, and their children, and grandchildren. She was joined in death just days later by her brother, Ron Day.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, Robert Howe and brother, Dick Day, and sisters Betty Carlson and Bonnie Jean Day.
