First of all I am very sad to have not learned about Charlotte's passing early enough to attend the memorial service. Thank you for the opportunity to say something about a wonderful friend and person.

I met Charlotte as a freshman safety on the Colorado State University football team. I was from Seattle, and left a large family behind, so it was good to get to know someone like Charlotte who was friendly, kind, generous, and with a physically fit funny bone! She had a core group of friends in-place when I arrived on the scene, and they stayed as such.

We remained friends our entire adult lives, even though we did not see each other often enough. She visited Seattle several times, when she worked for Hewlett Packard, and we went out and listened to live music; which is something she enjoyed very much.

My mother's family had originated from the Red River Valley in North Dakota, and before that from Canada. I later realized that Charlotte shared some of the relaxed approach to life of those folks.

I was used to being around two brothers and two sisters who were all athletes growing up so when I arrived at Colorado State, even though I pretended otherwise, I was quite lonely. Practices were rigorous and I often ended up with sore and tight muscles.  My brothers and sisters had given each other massage as a remedy. I can't remember how, but I got the bright idea to ask Charlotte if she would consider it.

When I asked her she kinda looked at me cross-eyed, but said yes after I offered compensation in terms of a massage for her. Outside of my sister Sara, and two of my own children, she was only person I've known who could push hard enough while hitting the correct muscle groups and missing the bones. She definitely enjoyed the equal opportunity aspect of it.

I am a filmmaker and photographer who has traveled quite a bit, and at times make unexpected visits. One time I stopped at Charlottes house in Fort Collins around Thanksgiving holiday to discover her not home. I then drove to her office to discover she had gone to her brother's house for the holiday.  Didn't want to barge in over in Sterling so I rolled on. Rightly, she later commented, ""you might have called ahead.""

Several winters ago we met at our mutual good friends Sheila and Lou's house in Denver, along with my wife Lisa, who knew Charlotte before I did. We all spent the night and reveled in our long friendships. Charlotte was particularily kind to me, and I believe, we had a very special relationship that was built with years of respect, accountability, and sincerity. With those elements in place love is a given. 

Charlotte was loved deeply by all of her friends from college including me.  She gave with a generous spirit which I will carry with me for the rest of my days.

Clark and Family,  My deepest sympathies over the loss of Charlotte.  She was a beautiful person and the smile she wears in the photograph bears that out.  I have many fond memories of Charlotte.

Charlotte was my 1st cousin. Growing up we were only a year apart, so from the youngest age we hung out together. I still remember sitting up until the late hours of the night talking and commiserating about lifes big problems at the age of 11 & 12. As we grew older it always seemed as we picked up the conversations right where we left off, with no gaps in between. We didn't see each other often, but it was always a special time when we did. I am grateful she is now in a place of peace. And am grateful we had times to share in this life!  Warmest Regards, Tom Scriven

I was so sorry to hear of your great loss. It was a blessing going through the Burlington school years with Carlotte, and I only wish I could have known her better these past years.  You all will be in my prayers to the Lord for great comfort and peace as you adjust to this loss.

I worked with Char at HP. I greatly appreciated Char's friendship and sense of humor. Condolences to Char's family and friends.

I was so sorry to hear about Charlotte.  Larry lives in Loveland and saw the announcement in the paper.  We had been talking about here just a couple of weeks ago when I was there to visit him.  She was a lovely young girl years ago when we were neighbors and her mother and mine taught together.  I am sure her close friends have lost a very special person.
