Clifford Dale "Barney" Dilka

Dale Dilka, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, in Greeley, CO. A proud native of Colorado, Dale spent the majority of his life in Kersey where his warm presence, community spirit, and entrepreneurial drive left a mark on everyone he met.

Born in Greeley to Cliff and Freida (Rohn) Dilka, he spent his early years on the 70’s Ranch in Hardin, CO learning the ranch life. Dale graduated from Kersey High School and immediately began building a life centered around hard work and ambition. He worked for many years for the Department of Transportation in Steamboat before following his dream of owning a business with Stehman’s Wheat Products Inc. Through his business, he earned

the affectionate name of “Mr. Pancake” and became a true local legend supplying breakfast foods across Northern Colorado and Denver and participating in many organization’s “pancake breakfasts”.

Beyond his business side, Dale was deeply committed to enriching his community. He dedicated numerous years to the Colorado Jaycees organization, eventually serving as the president. An avid sports enthusiast, Dale’s greatest passion was softball. He coached his children, served as the president of the Kersey softball association, and continued to share his love for the game by playing on multiple teams right up until his passing. When he wasn't on the field, Dale could be found outdoors hunting with his children or living the ranch life working his beloved cattle.

Dale was a deeply devoted family man, acting as the glue to hold large families together. His life was enriched by his family and long-term relationships. He was married to Teresa Corey for two years with whom he shared two children. He later married Krystal Downey and they shared 22 years of marriage and two children together. For the next 20 years of his life, Dale shared a deep and special companionship with Rusty Vance.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Cliff Dilka; his mother, Freida (Rohn) Dilka; and his sister, Karen Dilka.

His legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his four children: Cole Dilka and Corey Dilka (Jessica), both of Grand Junction, Colorado; Chaz Dilka and Kayleen Dilka, both of Johnstown, Colorado. He is also survived by his three cherished grandsons: Mason Brown, Henry Dilka, and Jack Dilka.

A celebration of Dale's life will take place on Friday, August 14th at St. John's United Church of Christ in Greeley, CO. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and services will begin at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ for family and friends to gather, share memories, and celebrate Dale's life.
