Dale Eugene Watson, 75, of Greeley, lost a hard fought battle to heart and kidney failure on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Medical Center of the Rockies. He was born on February 12, 1943 in Wilmington, Ohio to Burl and Ethel Mae (Johnson) Watson.
Dale was raised in Wilmington, graduating from Kingman High School in Kingman, Ohio, where he played basketball and sang in a barbershop quartet. After graduation, Dale moved to Colorado and got a job driving combine for a wheat harvest crew and traveled with that a lot. Dale volunteered for the draft and served in Germany for two years with the U.S Army. As a long-time mechanic, having worked at several dealerships and repair shops in Greeley, he retired from Coors Brewing Co. in Golden, Colorado. Dale’s favorite engine to work on was Diesel, especially the Coors trains.
On September 7, 1984, Dale married Becky Kelly in Greeley.
Dale enjoyed going to the coffee shop with his friends and playing horseshoes. He bowled in a bowling league and played softball on a 7-Up Team and a church team. Dale loved his kids and grandkids. He was very loving and supportive of his wife and children in all things. He also loved all of their horses and bird and although he pretended not to, he loved their cats as well. He had an amazing sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He also had a great laugh.
Dale is survived by his wife, Becky Kelly-Watson of Greeley; daughter, LaDonna Walker (Shawn) of Greeley; son, Willie Watson (Adrienne) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; sisters; Janet Phillips (Ed) and Virginia Ann Flint both of Centerville, Ohio, brother; Richard Watson (Donna) of Greeley, five grandchildren; Krystle, Jaxon, Deveraux, Jolene and Jessica and two great-grandsons; Deklan and Leonardo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Roy, Benny, John and Joe.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Avenue, Greeley. Private family inurnment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
