

He was born on January 23, 1945 to Eugene and Doris (Pottorff) Thyne, he was the first of nine children. Dan was raised in Stratton Colorado, where he attended Stratton High School. He enlisted in the Air Force shortly after high school. That is where he met and fell in love with Sally Joan Hurd and her three daughters, Lori, Lisa, and Jennifer. The two were married on September 28, 1968. Dan received an honorable discharge after proudly serving four years and becoming a sergeant. He returned to Stratton to do what he most loved, farming. The couple went on to have a son, Theodore.
Dan was happiest at home when he was with his animals. It was not uncommon for his children to wake up on a winter morning to find a baby calf on the floor of their kitchen.
Dan is survived by his three children, Lisa Werley, Jennifer, Roder, Theodore Thyne; eight grandchildren and six siblings; Thomas Thyne, Kaye Morris, Ronald Thyne, Patricia Kreutzer, Margaret Bailey, and Constance Moss.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife, Sally, and his parents, Eugene and Doris.
Dan will be laid to rest at the Fort Logan National Cemetery.
