Darlene L. Vierow of Greeley died Friday, September 16, 2011 at Grace Pointe in Greeley. She was born April 22, 1933 to Christian Jacob and Rose Elizabeth (Stattelman) Reimers in Clinton, Minnesota.
Darlene lived a simple life on a farm in Clinton, MN. She studied by candlelight and shoveled through snow to get to the outhouse. She warmed herself by a wood burning stove, the only heat they had in the house. She went to school in a one room schoolhouse, and Clinton High School.
Darlene went to dances every weekend. She attended 2 years at the University of Minnesota at Morrison. She traveled to Virginia, California, and Washington. She spent a few years in Texas, then her brother moved to Colorado and she followed him. She settled in and made Colorado her home.
She married J.C. Vierow in Ault, Colorado in January 1987. She was a member of Calvary Chapel, the Moose Lodge and Elks Club. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, crossword puzzles, watching Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons. She loved old movies. She especially enjoyed spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids. Every old friend and every new friend remembers her as a kind and very special person. She will be remembered fondly and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Hergenreder (Alan Dowd) of Greeley and Linda Richards of Evans; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Hergenreder, Travis Hergenreder, Jerome Brug, and Janelle Salberg; 7 great-grandchildren, Mikaelee, Kalie, Trenton, Trinity, Bryce, Braiden, and Aiden. She was preceded in death by her parents Chris and Rose Reimers, brothers, Donald and Earl and her husband J. C. Vierow.
Memorial service 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Chapel of Greeley. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
