I am so sorry to hear about my friend and former colleague Dave Crook.  I worked with Dave at HP and Agilent in Loveland for many years.  Dave was very kind, extremely intelligent, well-respected, and funny.  There was lots of talk about the ""HP Way"" and whether it was changing or not over the years, but Dave lived it. David Crook was a gentle man and a Gentleman. A wonderful member of a team, a deep thinker, and a talented technical problem solver. Throughout his time at Hach, Dave and I worked a lot together and would share our lunchtimes, each discussing our projects, and a lot more. He was very well respected and, unfortunately for him, was the go-to guy whenever a difficult technical problem arose.  His desk at work was a legend, being the poster-child for a 5S kaizen.     
Over the years, Dave and I competed to do more and more outrageously seemingly useless technical things.  Our motto was “The Most Useless Thing Wins”. I spent a lot of time trying to impress him with software programs and technical gadgets that were to put me ahead of him in our useless high-tech race. Dave had so many hard drives and I advised “Hard Drive Counselling”. He avoided writing Windows programs, preferring to use Cygwin to do his magic in Unix on a Windows computer. I constantly teased him, and would say there has got to be a more complicated way of doing that.  
Dave has taught me many things that I do not need to know, but I so enjoyed learning them. 
Like everyone in Dave’s life, I now miss him.

We are so sorry to hear about Dave. You have our deepest sympathy. I worked with Dave for many years at HP. He was a really great person with a great sense of humor and a talented and accomplished engineer. Dave and I spent two weeks together in England and enjoyed his company and our time together. He will be sorely missed. We were unable to attend the memorial service for Dave as we were called out of town for a family emergency.

I can't even begin to express how my heart aches for you. You'll all be in my thoughts prayers.

I worked with Dave at HP.  Dave contributed significant time instructing me to ensure that I could complete my part of the project.  I want Dave’s family and friends to know I very much appreciated his gift of time, humor and kindness.

So sorry to hear of the loss of a wonderful person, a  creative and talented engineer and a person who was always helpful, caring and fun to be with.  I will long remember Dave as a member of the good  talented guys from HP.

Dave was the inventor of many of the core technologies that launched our division. We were all there, and all met each other because of his accomplishments. It's impossible to measure Dave's impact on us all.

To the family of Dave. I had the privilege of working with Dave at Agilent in the early 200's. Dave was always helpful and had a lot of old HP stories to share. He was a great engineer and colleague. I hope your sorrow is eased by the knowledge that Dave made a positive difference to those who worked with him. He will be missed.

So shocked to hear of Dave's passing, to all the family and friends, may you find peace in this time. I too knew Dave from the old HP Loveland days where he was truly Mr. Analog.  His work in the 70's was a cornerstone that helped start an entire division of new products and caused the hiring of many other engineers like myself.  So thanks for that Dave.  It was an honor to know him and I always enjoyed his quit wit and cleverness in the department of pranks.   

When we would see each other it was often a one word greeting. I would say ""Crook"". He would say ""Snook"". Other times he was a kind man of few words and those were well thought out.  

RIP Dave. How I wish, how I wish you were here.

I worked with Dave at HP and at Hach. We worked on TestJet, later did the litigation together, and other board test projects. We sat beside each other next to the windows. I learned so many good practical jokes from Dave! What a sense of humor. There are so many good stories and memories. Dave was such a great guy. I feel incredibly fortunate to have known him and worked with him. My sincere condolences to all.

I worked with Dave at HP and was very sad to hear of his passing. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Dave and I were classmates at the University of Denver. If I remember right, he and I were summer students at HP Loveland between our Junior and Senior year. (I joined HP in San Diego after the Air Force.) He was indeed a great guy! I was surprised and saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends.

Dave was a mentor, friend, colleague, boss and a genuine asset to the world. I worked with him on the ASRU at HP in the 70's. Although the ASRU we built was a big box that today fits inside a small IC, the basic concepts are all Dave. He not only designed the analog portion of the ASRU, he wrote the MC6800 code to implement the many math routines we needed to make it all work. When we released it in about 1978, I worked for him in production engineering for about a year before we went off to our next projects. It's a true shock to learn of his passing at such a young age. RIP, Dave. It is an honor to have known you.

Al an I enjoyed several trips w Dave an Saundra.  We had a lot of fun.  Dave was a wonderful gentle soul.   He picked me up for different gatherings as he knew I hated to drive.  He an Saundra had several fun 4 th of July parties.  The Boylls clan an friends were always invited.   Al is probably telling Dave lets go fishing.   We will miss Dave lots of love

I remember starting my first job at HP in Loveland 32 years ago and quickly noting the broad respect that Dave engendered.  He always provided great  advice, mostly technical and always funny.  I remember his dried break-food collection, which he inadvertently shared with a business executive, who proceeded to consume a decade-old popcorn ball one day.  I fondly remember many moments working with Dave and miss him.  Rest in peace.   Chris Cain

I am very sorry to hear of your loss.  Dave was great guy and an amazing engineer.  The engineers always seemed to gather around Dave's area when having morning coffee.  He had a great sense of humor and occasionally would share some pearls of his wisdom.  I had the honor of working with him on few projects in Loveland HP. So sorry to hear, but I have fond memories from our days working together on board test products. We both shared senses of humor which we wielded like light sabers towards each other. It made the days go by fast  -- he renamed me ""Par-kay"" and I always called him ""Crock"", so I guess we had a margerine theme there. It was good knowing Dave.
