David Avery Upton

Dave was born in Greeley to Tom and Donna (Anderson) Upton on October 17, 1967. He lived in Greeley, Estes Park, and Windsor graduating from Windsor High School in 1986.

Dave worked for Warkentin Electric doing both residential and commercial projects. He moved to Greeley Evans School District 6, April 2013, as a journeyman. In 2017, he became a master electrician and was promoted to electrical manager for District 6 in December of 2020.

Dave loved sports, as a youth he enjoyed swimming, wrestling, football, and power lifting. As an adult his love of skiing and bicycling took him to many countries.

Dave is survived by his parents: Tom and Donna Upton; three siblings: Sandi (Jim) Barrington, Robyn Upton, Bob Upton; three nephews: Zack, Andrew (Danielle), and Chuy (Jazmyn) Melendez; many great nieces and nephews; longtime childhood friends: Mike (Cindi) Romero and Steve (Angie) Ruiz; as well as extended family members and friends.

He joined the following family members in heaven: Grandparents Eti and Willa Anderson, Grandparents Bob and Dolly Upton; Aunt Susan (Anderson) Hayden; Uncle Larry Anderson; Brother-in-law Jesse Melendez; and cousins: Fritz Porter and Kathy (Hayden) Clift.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, 4 pm at St. John’s UCC, 3815 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO. The family asks that guests please wear favorite sports team shirts, District 6 shirts, something plaid, or casual attire.
