DeEtta I. Stewart Shirley

DeEtta I. Stewart Shirley, 96 of Greeley, passed away at The Bridge in Greeley. She was born August 13, 1919 in Aurora, IL. She married Rev. Paul P. Stewart on March 14, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He passed away in 1983. She then married Dr. John M. Shirley on May 21, 1991. He passed away in 1997.

“My final prayer is that I have lived my life doing what God wanted me to do, knowing failure but continuing to try as best I could, and that I have touched some lives along the way with God’s love.”

DeEtta is survived by her daughters DiDi (David) Hanni and Pomela (Eric) Furtkamp; grandchildren Kevin Hanni, Karin (Mark) Zona, Nathan (Kellie) Reynolds, Sarah (Mike) Wassinger, Hedy (Mark Dooley) Hanni, and Matthew (Aggie) Hanni; great-grandchildren Lauren (Casey) Lipsey, Allie, Hunter, Jakob, Adam, Tess, Isabella, Samuel, Joaquim and Zander; and great-great granddaughter Zoey.

Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church. An additional Family Memorial Service will be held in the Midwest with immediate family at a later date.
