Del was born October 12, 1932 to Velma (Hopkins) and Russell Burns just outside of Manville, Wyoming. Del was the oldest of three boys. Del also served in the Army from 1955 to 1957 and received an honorable discharge from the Army Reserve on July 17, 1959. Del married Mabel E. Perlenfein in Cheyenne, Wyoming and they were married for fifty—one years. Although Del worked in many fields he truly loved being a construction Superintendent, supervising heavy and highway bridge construction. He loved the challenge of starting with nothing and ending with a beautiful concrete structure. After retiring from 21 years as a Superintendent, Del and Mabel enjoyed traveling in their RV, fishing, and going to Blackhawk.
Del is survived by his special companion, Wanda Brehm; two daughters, Vicki Dill and Debra (Daren) Lady; four grandchildren, Kendra Dill, Kelli (Marlin) Kunau, Dustin Schenstrom, and Jacob (Sarah) Lady; and eight great-grandchildren, Dustin, Dakota, Ty, Lane, Ethan, Lakota, Xander, and Adriana. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth (Jane) Perlenfein; two sister-in-laws, Nina Craven and Helen Burns; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; parents; infant son; two brothers, Ronald Burns and Terry and his wife Hope Burns; a niece and two nephews.
