

Denise Lee Hess, 57, of Greeley, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. She was born on March 23, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas to Robert Lee and Arlene (Cline) Lehman.
Denise and her family moved to Greeley when she was a child. She attended Greeley schools and graduated from Greeley Central High School. After high school, she graduated from beauty school at Aims College.
On July 5, 1980, she married Kurt Hess in Greeley. After their marriage, they started their family and Denise stayed at home. After her children were older Denise worked as a cook at several places in Greeley. She most recently worked at Fox Run Assisted Living, which is affiliated with Bonell Good Samaritan Society. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in October.
Denise was an avid Denver Broncos fan. She loved crafts, including making jewelry, painting and crocheting blankets and many other crochet items. She made stuffed animals for her grandchildren.
Denise was very family oriented and adored her grandchildren. Above all was her loved for her family. She was a very giving person and ready to help with anything and anyone in need.
Denise is survived by her husband, Kurt; daughter, Kim (Dustin) Gaunt of Greeley; two sons, Kyle Hess and Kevin Hess (Kayli Parson) both of Greeley; brother, Larry Lehman of Greeley; sister-in-law, Priscilla McVey of Greeley and four grandchildren, Tyler Gaunt, Jayden Gaunt, Xander Hess and Landon Hess.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home.
