Dionicio “Dion” Agripino, 44, of Greeley, died February 14, 2010 at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born October 23, 1965 in Denver, Colorado to John Jess and Mary Ellen (Mora) Agripino.
Dion was raised in the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Platteville where he was confirmed and had his first communion. He attended schools in Platteville and Gilcrest and graduated from Valley High School. There he enjoyed wrestling, baseball and football. He graduated from Colorado Barber College in Denver.
Dion served in the United States Army for 12 years. He served during Desert Storm in Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He received special recognition from the Secretary of the Army twice, for his work as a cook, above and beyond duty. After his discharge, he moved back to Colorado and settled in Greeley.
He loved to umpire high school baseball, Division A in South Carolina and also Legion Ball in the summer. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He owned and operated Men’z Barber Shop in Platteville with his partner and companion Deborah Mulliger.
Dion is survived by his companion Deborah Mulliger of Greeley, mother Mary Ellen Agripino-Montoya and step-father Issac of Greeley; sister Nichole (Jesse) Tijerina of Greeley; step sister Yvonne (David) Vititoe of Denver; brother Manny (Melissa) Agripino; step brother Daniel (Krystle) Montoya of Platteville; nieces and nephew Marissa, Morgan, Madison, Alejandro, McKenna, Nicholas, Sophia, Matthew, Taylor, Aubrey, Chloe, Miyah and Brailey; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded by his father, brother John and grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. Williams Catholic Church, Fort Lupton. Interment will take place in Mizpah Cemetery.
