Dominga F. Morado

Dominga F. (Hinojosa) Morado, 87, of Greeley, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Westlake Lodge Nursing Home. She was born March 4, 1934 in Laredo, Texas to Francisco and Eluteria “Lucy” (Moralez) Hinojosa.

Dominga’s family frequently traveled between Texas and Colorado, during which she met Lucio. They were married in Greeley, CO and would have been married 75 years on March 29, 2022.

Dominga worked outside the home for a short time at Kenton Manor and Bonell Good Samaritan Center as a Nurse’s Aide. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Dominga loved growing and maintaining her flower gardens. She enjoyed cooking – especially tamales. She also loved embroidering (making blankets for all the babies in the family) and dancing with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling and was ready to go wherever anyone invited her.

Above all, Dominga was a dedicated mother. Her children’s education was always a priority to her. Although money was scarce raising a large family, she always ensured her children were well dressed for church and school. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who in turn loved their “Grandma Minga”.

Dominga is survived by her ten children, Jose Morado, Frank Morado (Maralee), Juanita Torrez (Frederick), Alonzo Morado (Ruperta), Rose Torrez, Frances Braafhart (William), Veronica Sheets (Allan), Barbara Kuk (Thomas), Chris Morado (Dani) and Fermin Morado (Madra). 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren. And four sisters, Beatrice Lira, Lydia (Lily) Loucks, Alice Fuentes and Geneva Alvarado

She is preceded in death by her husband Lucio and her eldest son, Lupe Morado. Her siblings Pablo Fermin and Ponciano Hinojosa, Juanita Pallacios, Roland and Rodrigo (Rudy) Hinojosa, Mary Louise Crocker and Susie Sanchez.

Visitation will be from 5:00-6:00 PM Wednesday, February 16, 2022 followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 PM, both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
