Donald Rademacher

August 24, 1945January 28, 2020

On Tuesday, January 28, Dr. Donald Rademacher passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. He had been ill with cancer for some time.

For nearly four decades, Don was a pillar of the Northern Colorado medical community. Starting in 1983, he practiced nephrology and internal medicine at the Greeley Medical Clinic.

Don was born in 1945 to Raymond and Mary Rademacher and grew up on a farm in Grant Park, Illinois, where his brother Gene still grows corn and soybeans on the family’s land. Don went to Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana and got his PhD in chemistry from the University of Kansas before shifting to medicine. He studied medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He treasured afternoons spent hiking around Estes Park with his wife Mary and fondly remembered long-distance bicycling with his son Dan.

Don is survived by his wife Mary, brother Gene, sisters Diane and Jan, children Stacy and Dan, stepchildren Alicia and Alex, and many grandchildren.

The ceremony will be private. Please visit www.allnuttgreeley.com to send condolences to the family.

Don has been my doctor for 35 years. I loved his dry humor and he sure helped me through a lot of medical issues. Rest in peace Don. Thanks for your great care through all those years.

I worked for several years with Dr. Rademacher at the Dialysis center in Greeley before retiring. After retirement I became one of his patients. I remember him as being a gentle, easy going Doctor who cared deeply for the welfare of his patients. He will be missed by the many lives he has touched both as a physician, and as a friend. God bless you Dr. Rademacher and thank you for all you did for us.

My wife Melda and I offer our condolences to all of Don's immediate and extended family. We had kept him in prayer when cousin Gene informed my brothers of Don's battle with cancer. We know that your hearts ache with sorrow and we pray that our Lord will comfort you during this difficult time.

Eternal rest, grant unto Don O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

My husband and I were patients of Dr. Rademacher for many years. He always treated us with the utmost respect and kindness and we had absolute faith in his medical knowledge. He was a doctor we felt very comfortable talking to whether in his office or at the hospital. He was always there for us. We are saddened by his loss and our prayers are with the entire family. You have lost a very good man. Rob and Marianne Dinges.

My deepest condolences to the Rademacher family. I remember asking him what made him choose nephrology. He told me his background was chemistry and he enjoyed that part of nephrology. He always amazed me of his ability to remember people. I remember him mentioning how 5 hours of sleep would be good enough to keep him working. The work he knew provided for his family. 43 years of practice showed his dedication and diligence for helping this community. I know his blood family sacrificed him greatly for the family he gained in the nephrology community. I was honored to have met him, worked with him, admire him, gain wisdom from him. What a privilege, what an honor of good memories.

Dr Rademacher was the kindest man I ever knew. He was always attentive to the needs of his patients, and always listened to a person's needs regardless of how silly they might have seemed at least to him. I always enjoyed talking with him, and he would smile everytime I brought up fattening him up with ice cream or banana splits. He had a quiet grace abut him that put people at ease. I will miss him so much. I can't imagine the medical office without him.

He, Dr Rademacher was not just my doctor he was my friend. Well it seems like we grew up together here in Greeley, that's how long he was my doctor and friend. He was kind and very smart and funny too we laughed at times, and he would shake his head and say I was his unique patient I would puzzle him at times but he would figure it out. But most of all I will miss my friend. Thanks for sharing this wonderful man with me.
