Donna Lou Dodge was born February 26, 1927, in Normal, Illinois to Monroe and Wynona (Sack) Dodge.
Dede met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Bischoff on a blind date in Boulder Colorado during summer school at the University of Colorado. Returning to Bloomington, Illinois in the fall of 1947 she continued her education at Illinois Wesleyan University as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority graduating in 1948. Dede and Bob were married in January of 1949 in the Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, Illinois. The Church and its activities became central to their lives as their family grew to include 3 sons. Bob started his career at State Farm Insurance in public relations and advertising after his employer the Dodge-Dickinson mattress factory burned to the ground in a spectacular fire in September 1952.
As a corporate spouse, Dede was a steadying force behind Bob's career at State Farm. Bob's transfer to Greeley as Regional Vice President for five states in 1968 led to Dede embracing her new community, where she became active in PEO, Questers, Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni and Crescent Club.
Known for her generous spirit, Dede was a beloved friend to many whom she met through her travels with Bob's career, staying in touch with friends from all over throughout her life. She treasured these relationships and nurtured them with cards, phone calls and visits.
Dede is survived by her children, Brad (Diane), Todd (Cherie), and Blake (Julie); her grandchildren, Taylor Montey (Blake), Dana Bischoff (Brittany), Laura Hasemeyer (Mark), and Matthew Bischoff (Emily); and her ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Bob, who passed away in 2008.
The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at The Bridge at Greeley for their patience and kindness.
