Donna Maurine Ewing

Donna was born to Edwin and Ebba Johnson on July 29, 1934. She attended Greeley schools and graduated from College High School in 1952. While at College High, she met her sweetheart, Lloyd Ewing. They were married in December 1952 before Lloyd was deployed to Korea with the US Army.

Donna began working at Meadow Gold Dairy in Greeley after high school and continued there in both part-time, while her children were young, and full-time roles until her retirement in 1996. She was an excellent accountant and loved for everything to balance. Donna was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and was very active in Sunday School, Women's Bible Study and Bethel Women's Fellowship. She served as a church organist for over 20 years and loved using her talent for the Lord.

She was very involved in running the family farm alongside Lloyd and later James. She did everything from cooking meals to picking up and throwing wayward sugar beets back onto the truck.

Donna was passionate about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed watching and being involved with all of their activities and life events. She was a living example to them of many Godly virtues, not the least of which was "A soft answer turns away wrath." Proverbs 15:1.

Donna and Lloyd enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. They took the family on cruises and vacations and grandchildren on many camping trips. They traveled with close friends throughout the US and abroad.

Survivors include her daughter, Lee Hubbard and husband Mike of LaSalle, son James of LaSalle, grandchildren, Lindsey Cole and husband Spencer of Flowood, MS, Drew Hubbard of Beaufort, SC, and great-grandchildren, Joey, Warner and Kate Cole of Flowood, MS. Sisters in law, Marian Scheirman (Tom) of Greeley, Mardelle Ewing, LaSalle, and Germaine Johnson, Greeley, and many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents, and her brother, Darrell Johnson.

A celebration of life service for Donna will be held 10:30 am Thursday, October 1 at Allnutt Macy Chapel, with a reception to follow. Private Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, World Vision or American Bible Society.
