Dorothy Riley Baumgardner

Dorothy “Dottie” Baumgardner entered the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday September 16, 2014 where she will reunite with her loving husband “Chuck” and her sister, “Margie” and in turn receive her Heavenly Wings. Dottie was born on April 29, 1931 in Chicago, IL. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Baumgardner on January 24, 1953. The couple made Estes Park their permanent home in July of 1982. Chuck passed away on May 11, 1992. Dottie left a great legacy in the community of Estes Park and was loved by all who knew her. She had various jobs in Estes Park including Coast to Coast, Dad’s laundry and the Elizabeth Guild until 2005. In 2007 she started the Community Thrift Store. In 2002, she received the Channel 7 News “Every Day Hero Award” for her efforts in giving back to her community. Dottie was preceded in death by her nephew, Richard Chudy who passed in 2006 and her granddaughter, Christina Riden, who passed on August 17, 2001. She leaves behind a niece, Barbara DelCarlo, two great nephews, her special and loving family, Donna and Mike McCleary, Brandi McCleary and her fiancé Zach Frank, Joel and Candi Cervantes with Madi and Jonah. She also leaves behind a friend Dan Norton. A service will be held at a later date.
