Dorothy (Dottie) Jean Wisdom Seybold was born on March 20, 1937 in Wray, Colorado. She was the seventh child of 13 born to Clyde J. and Callie May (Whissen) Wisdom. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Wray as a child and again at the Methodist Church in Benkelman, NE with daughter, Julie Jean and granddaughter, Lindsey Jean, and grandson, Cody Lynn DeWester. Dottie was a member of the Greeley Christian Church.
She married Wilmer W. (Bill) Seybold at the Wray Methodist Church in 1953. She followed Bill to Aberdeen, Maryland and Killeen, Texas with the U.S. Army. After his discharge, the couple lived in Hershey, Trenton, Wilber, and Benkelman, Nebraska. One son and four daughters were born to Bill and Dottie. (Mark, Susan, Mary, Terry, and Julie) Dottie moved to Greeley, CO in 1996.
Dottie enjoyed homemaking and traveling. She was a volunteer at the Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman. She was a past Worthy Matron of Holly Chapter No. 233 Benkelman, past president of the Bahia Nelitles Shrine Club of McCook, Daughters of the Nile and Naamah Temple of Hastings, NE. She was also a member of El Mehdel No. 47 Daughters of the Nile of Denver, CO., Zuliema Club of Greeley, Garden City Chapter No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star; Faith Court No. 18 Order of the Amaranth; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Mahi White Shrine No. 18; Colorado-Wyoming White Shrine, Ladies Auxiliary No. 2121 V.F.W., Moose Lodge 2220, Greeley Activity Center, and a 35 year member of Cooperative Extension Service.
Survivors are son, Mark Seybold of Benkelman, daughters; Susan and husband Ray Rushing of St. Louis, MO, Mary and husband Mark Kircher of McCook, NE, Terry and husband Gary Sulzbach of Cleveland, TN, Julie and husband Dick DeWester of Benkelman, NE.
Grandchildren are Bryan Anderson of Omaha, NE, Christy Seybold of McCook, NE, Jennifer French and Steven Korinek of McPherson, KS, Rachael Dooley of Cleveland, TN, Christopher Sulzbach of Branson, MO, Heather Hendy of Cleveland, TN, Cody DeWester of McCook, NE.
Great grandchildren are Abigail and Aubrie Seybold of McCook, NE, Collin and Courtney French of McPherson, KS, Chloe, Lily and Elijah Sulzbach of Branson, MO, Cale DeWester of McCook, NE.
Sisters include Virginia Musser of McCook, NE, and Betty Buchanan of Denver. Brothers are Bob Wisdom of Kerrville, TX, Ed Wisdom of Sun City, AZ, and Dean Wisdom of Salt Lake CIty, UT.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and granddaughter, Lindsey Jean DeWester. Also preceding her were her parents, as well as her brothers, John, Bill, Tom, Jack, Jim and sisters, Neva and Carol.
There will be a private family gathering. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Dundy County Senior Center 710 Chief Street, Benkelman, NE 69021.
