

He graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1968 and attended the University of Northern Colorado and University of Wyoming before entering the Marine Corp and later the Air Force Reserves. He specialized in high-end men’s clothing before moving on to a career in real estate. He worked as a real estate broker for 32 years in Greeley, Denver and Castle Rock earning a designation as a specialist in commercial real estate (CCIM). Doug moved to Estes Park in 2012 where he enjoyed his retirement years as a fly fishing guide and shuttle driver.
Doug served on the City of Greeley Planning and Zoning Board, was a member of the Greeley Centennial Rotary Club and was a director of the Ryan Renegade Fishing Club.
Doug was married to Carol Stolen from 1978 to 1984 and they had one daughter; Lindsey.
He had a passion for fly fishing, sports, politics and music. He was deeply devoted to his faith and served the Lord through involvement in a number of different ministries over the years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Mitchell.
He is survived his father, Robert Mitchell; daughter Lindsey Kraft (Casey); granddaughters Paisley and Anika; sister Marsha Caranci (Bary); and nephew Michael Caranci (Kerry and son Mitchell).
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 18, 2017 at Highline Community Church 6160 S Wabash Way, Greenwood Village CO 80111.
