

Dr. E.G. “Bud” Schaumberg, Jr., 90 of Greeley, passed away January 25, 2017 at Life Care Center in Greeley. Bud was born August 28, 1926 in Shelby, NE, to Edward George and Claire (Barentsen) Schaumberg. He married Patricia Hyland on June 7, 1950 in Lincoln, NE.
Bud was senior class president and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Neb. He volunteered for the service and was accepted for flight training at Doane College in Crete, Neb; from there he was stationed at the Naval Academy at Saint Mary’s, Cal. He was prepared to be deployed to Japan when the war ended. Following his honorable discharge he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was accepted to the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha and was a member of the Phi Rho Fraternity. After graduation he was in general practice in North Platte, Neb. He then started his residency in Radiology at CU Denver.
He practiced Radiology at North Colorado Medical Hospital and the Greeley Medical Clinic for 33 years. During this time he established the Radiological Technician Training Program at what is now Aims Community College. His medical career totaled 38 years. He was active in the Greeley community, serving as President of the Rotary Club and chairman for the United Way before he retired at age 65.
Bud enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, travel, photography, bridge, cards, golf (even hitting a hole in one in Keystone, Colo.), hunting, scuba diving, camping, football, and spending time with family in Greeley, the cabins in Estes Park, and winters in Carefree, AZ.
Bud is survived by his wife, Patti; sons, E.G. Schaumberg III “Buzz (Mary Ruth), Dr. Paul (Cindy) Schaumberg, DVM, John (Sandy) Schaumberg and Dr. Tom (Nancy) Schaumberg; daughter, Susan Gorman; grandchildren Elizabeth Schaumberg, E.G Schaumberg IV “Ned”, Landy (Rob) Peek, Amie Schaumberg, Zach Gorman, Kelsey Gorman, Chris Schaumberg, Kaitlyn (Luke) McNaughton; Lucas Schaumberg and Mitchell Schaumberg; great-grandchildren, Autumn McNaughton, Winter McNaughton and Tegan Peek.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Schaumberg.
Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
