I knew Drew for most of my preadolescent life.  From the time we were about 13 till we were both about 21.  After that I moved to Hawaii and he moved to St. Croix, and even though we lost contact over the next few years, I never forgot Drew or what a good friend he was.  We had many of the same mutual friendâ???Ts even though we went to different schools, and would spend every summer together camping and hiking.  I remember one summer in particular when we were camping with a few friends.  We all decided to go for a hike.  We got to a point in the hike where there was a seventy foot drop and a section of rock we had to scale across to get to the other side.  I was so scared, I was in tears.  At that moment Drew looked me in the eye and said, â???oDonâ???Tt be scared Deonnah, look, I will get behind you and we will do this together, if you fall, I fallâ?? I trusted him and so we went for it.  By the time we made it to the other side and up to the top I was shaking and crying but happy that I made it.  If it had not been for Drewâ???Ts encouragement and patience I would have never made it that day.  He was just that kind of person, the kind of person that was always there when you needed him, and push you beyond your limits to surprise yourself.  This is a true testament of his character and also of his compassion, nobleness and love.
I tell people this story from time to time because it is one of my fondest memories I have of our short time spent together in this life.  Drew taught me what a true friend really is, and what friendship means.  My sincerest condolences go out to your family.  Drew will be deeply missed but thought of with great fondness, may he be eternally remembered by all that knew him.

Dear Rod and Melody,
My late note is due to the fact that, frankly, as a mother and parent it's taken me a bit of time to compose myself enough to write to you both.
As only a parent can feel, I am deeply saddened for you for the lose of your beautiful boy.  Even though I never met Drew, I loved his photo and envied his life description.  You should be so proud of him.
This may be a ""Boulder thing"" but the following quote comforts me  when I'm missing my parents (and other loved ones).  
""Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy"".
I choose to believe this and it's my reminder to look up in the night sky more often.   I hope you can to.

My deepest condolenses to the entire randol family.  Drew was a very special person to all of us. He was a very big part of Sonia and My life; he showed us what love and friendship meant.
Through him I was able to meet and share so many great memories with you and some of your family. 
He was the one person who showed me how to hike on our trip to Dominica with mom and dad. Him diving into the water at the bottom of the waterfall. Great memories never to be forgotten.
He was greatly appreciated by everyone here in St.Croix.

I remember sharing alot of good times with Drew.  I have memories from kindergarten (I was in the same year as Meshawn) up to my pregnancy with my twins (In 2001).  I didnt hear of what happened until last night and was shocked that such a young, wonderful person could be taken so unfairly.  Im so sorry to you, Drew's family, that you have to go through something so painful. Drew was a wonderful young man who we came to love very much.  He found a spiritual home in St. Croix and made a success of his life there.  He was taken from us far too early and we mourn his passing, but he will remain forever in our hearts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  We knew Drew as a talented, reliable and accomplished professional, and were surprised to learn that he was only 27 years old.  He was very proud of the work he did here at Blue Vista Villa, and rightfully so (he did the roof work for this villa, a lasting legacy that you can see at www.bluevistavilla.com).  
The last time we saw Drew was a couple of weeks ago at a Jazz festival here on St. Croix.  He was dancing and enjoying the musicians who were visiting from New Orleans. I think god every day that we had a great summer with him, and we made some of the best memories I will have.  My brother was my best friend growing up.  I remember turing over logs for hours looking for bugs to catch.  We had this tree and we would climb to the top, and sit up there and rock the tree back and forth singing the same song over and over.  I am sure we drove mom and dad crazy.  We became partners in crime when we became teens, but he was aways so prtective over me.  When I became pregnant, we became even closer.  He came to docters apptments and ulta-sounds with me.  I will never forgett his smile from ear to ear and the tears of happyness in his eyes when he saw the babys foot on the  computer.  It gave us both a rush all over.  He was the best uncle I could have asked for, and he truly loved Tyler.  He will forever be a part of my heart, soul and life.  Drew is someone people never forget.  I love him with all my heart, and all ways will.  He was all ways so happy , and he had the best 27 years of his life.  He will be missed, and our family will spend many hours crying laughing and remembering his life.  It has been such a big loss to lose my only brother, I will all ways love you Drew, you are in my heart and soul.

I just recently moved back to the states from St. Croix. I was friends with Drew and he was such a delightful person to be around; he always put a smile on my face and made me laugh. I will deeply miss him. My heart and prayers go out to his family.
