Lit a candle in memory of Duane Willard Stickler

Duane sold and installed my first set of car hand controls on my car in 1958. Had his shop in his garage in Elmhurst Illinois. Duane was referred to me when I was a patient at Hines VA hospital. Both our wives were nurses at Hines VA.
  We visited many years after. Both of us came to Colorado later. Visits about South Dakota and his working on the dam. Funny stories when a kid sweeping out and cleaning a bar in Buffalo Gap, South Dakota. We exchanged advice on cooking too.

I met Duane and my late husband in 1953 while they were recovering from their wounds  at Hines VA Hospital. 

I have some great memories of Duane, as did my late Husband Robert. They often talked about their trip to South Dakota. Their car had stalled on a moutain and they had a terrible time trying to get someone to stop to help. My Husband held onto the car and managed to take a cane and get the car started again. They would reminise about that, saying what are the chances of a parplegic and a quadrplegic being stuck on a moutain alone! They always had great time reminiscing about their stay at Hines VA Hospital.

Duane will be missed by many. Everyone loved Duane, He was a great Husband and Father, also a placebo Father to my Daughter who lives in Colorado. He loved her onion soup!

What a great time they will have when they meet AGAIN!!!!
