Dwain W. Schaeffer

Dwain William Schaeffer, 89, of LaSalle, passed away April 10, 2017. He was born July 6, 1927 in Holyoke, Colorado to Earl and Arlie Schaeffer. He graduated from Holyoke High School in 1945, moving to Weld County in 1952.

Dwain worked at Holyoke Creamery, Sinclair Gas Station, LaSalle and Peckham Elevators, and Schaeffer Digging Service. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 – 1947.

Dwain married Rose in Holyoke in 1950. They had 66 wonderful years together. He was a member of the LaSalle Lions Club, Barbershop Quartet, a lifetime member of Evans VFW and also was an Elder and Deacon at Greeley Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting and was given the nickname “Duke” by his hunting buddies. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing cards.

Dwain is survived by his wife Rose; daughters Peggy (Rick) Lohr, Diane (Randy) Kern, Charlene (Steve) Fritzler, Beverly (Stan) Bruntz; two sons Barry (Julienne) Schaeffer and Doyle (Deidra) Schaeffer; 21 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Earl.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Greeley Wesleyan Church. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the La Salle Lions Club. A special thanks to Hannah and Shalee.
