Sorry about the loss of Uncle Earl. I have the water painting he painted in 1964 of the place where the Smith family lived growing up. I love and loved all my aunts and uncles dearly. Mom lives with me know in Kingsland TX. Love to all Patricia and Kathleen Smith

I met Earl 16 years through my wonderful wife Jolene. From the moment I met his warm smile and 
open demeaner, I felt welcomed into the Jacobsen Family. One of the aspects of Earl that touched me the most over the years was his quiet, warm presence when you are with him. He dearly enjoyed every momment being with those closest to him. Friends and Family. He may not have been the most conversational; but that warm smile and expressions said
it all and then some.  In the last two years, when he made all those long treks with Lyden down to 
see his property in New Mexico I am certain that those trips were filled many of those quiet warm 
momments that said he savored every momment of them! I come from a big family too. Some of them ""type-A"" types with lots of gab. I remember on some of the visits home to my family, Jolene would tell me how she would be intimidated trying to keep up 
with all the conversation. Never with Earl! I remember the times him and Sybel stayed in our home,
I could relax into my routine and surroundings never having to worry about Earl. He would be so easy going, just enjoying every momment just being there with us! My wife did mention ""U"" for Utterly Fearless. That is Earl, but I may add ""H"" for Hero. I remember one visit when we just moved into our house and we had ceiling fans put into our high vaulted living room. We were trying to figure how we are going to get the bulbs put in, since we didn't have a roof ladder yet and obviously our fan installers forgot). We walked into the living room and here was Earl, up on a step ladder putting them in with that long reach of his. My first thought was, ""WOW""! Earls talent, contributions in many fields of endeavour such as the arts and agriculture go beyond mention and measure; but most of all his spirit is the most touching of all. This loss his hit us both a little harder being that I lost my father, Wendell just only a month earlier. I am sure they are both are together and at peace, with my father looking over Earl's shoulder as he makes that one more painting.I will miss him dearly,as we all do and I thank him for bringing me into the wonderful Jacobsen Family!

We love our memories of Uncle Earl and the art he has shared with us.  A kind, gentle and good man has touched many lives.  Our love to Aunt Sybel and cousins, Lyden, Mollie, Lowell, Heddie, Janelle and Jolene.

Earl Jacobsen had such a wonderful generosity of spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. I will miss him as a much loved uncle who always had a ready smile and a kind word. My most sincere sympathy to Aunt Sybel and family.

Dear Aunt Sybel and family: Our deepest condolences on your loss. Uncle Earl was an amazing man in so many ways and a fun, gentle giant! I am forever awed by his creativity and the great detail that those big hands of his could create with the paintbrush and various crafts. His art is even more amazing considering what a hard worker he was on the farm and elsewhere. Just the other day a friend was smitten by Earl's painting hanging in our dining room. He was a man of integrity, kindness and a dearly loved uncle and will be missed by many. Love Kent, Marcia, Melody and Annalyn Smith.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family in your time of sorrow.  We will all miss Earl's wonderful smile and laughter.  Only time can ease the pain of this great loss. Our hearts go out to Sybel and all the other family members. We treasure sharing time with Sybel and Earl at our latest class reunion.

Earl Jacobsen's paintings hang in and beautify my home and I enjoy them each and every time I walk down the hallway where I hung a series of four depicting the seasons in Colorado.  He left a part of his love of Colorado in my home and in the homes of too many to count.
