Mrs. Flateland grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1941. Upon graduation she went to work for the Provident Life Insurance Company in Bismarck, North Dakota. On November 26, 1942, she married Kenneth J. Flateland in Bismarck. In 1944, they moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota where Edith was bookkeeper for St. Cloud Electric Motor Services. In 1948, they moved to Billings, Montana where Edith worked for Northwest Auto Supply. In 1955, the Flateland family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where Edith worked at the Capital building for the State of Wyoming for five years. In 1960, the Flatelands moved to Greeley. Edith worked for Weld County for 28 years, retiring May 31, 1988.
Edith was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos along with many other Colorado teams.
Edith was a caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Above all was her love for her family.
She is survived by her son, Fred Flateland of Greeley; daughter-in-law, Belinda Flateland of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts; grandson, Seth (Lauren) Flateland of Roslindale, Massachusetts; granddaughter, Brianna (Joe) Krikava of West Roxbury, Massachusetts and great-grandchildren, Eli Krikava, Caleb Krikava, Reece Krikava, Mabel Edith Krikava and Charlotte Flateland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred H. and Ethel May Sjoblom (Lewis), husband, Kenneth J. Flateland and son, Steven K. Flateland.
A Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th Street, Greeley.
