Edward grew up with a strong work ethic and a spirit of adventure. Because his family moved for work, he had the opportunity to live in Colorado, Oregon, and Texas. Throughout his life, Edward truly was a “Jack of All Trades.” He worked in many different fields, including upholstery, landscaping, concrete work, security, and at a radio station. He also spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver, allowing him to see and experience different parts of the country.
Edward had a passion for music and was a talented musician who enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to Tejano music. He also loved riding horses, traveling, fishing, and dancing. Above all, he treasured his family and especially enjoyed spending time playing with and making memories with his grandchildren.
Edward will be remembered for his many talents, his love of music and adventure, his hardworking nature, and the joy he brought to the people around him. His memory will live on through his family, the stories they share, and the many lives he touched.
Edward is survived by his children; Antero Alaniz; José and Lacey Alaniz; Monique Alaniz; Vanessa and Jessica Moran; Antonio and Anika Leyva; his 15 grandchildren; one brother, Oscar Alaniz Sr.; one sister, Ernestina Medina; sister-in-law, Catalina Alaniz; brother-in-law, Manuel Rivas; and his devoted dog, Elvis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antero Alaniz Sr. and Beatriz Martínez Alaniz; and his siblings, Chale Alaniz Sr.; Antero Alaniz Jr.; Olga Rivas; Raul Alaniz Sr.; and Robert Alaniz.
Edward’s life was one filled with hard work, music, family, and countless memories. Though he will be deeply missed, his love and legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue; Greeley, CO 80634. Edward will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
