With extreme sadness, the Maltos family announces the passing of Edward “The Boss” Maltos, who passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. This loss was completely unexpected, leaving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. Edward will be truly missed in so many ways.
How does one even start to accurately reflect the legacy Edward left to the world? If one hundred different people were asked who Edward Maltos was, they’d all give a different story. Some would say he was kind, caring, fun to be around, had a great work ethic, strong, protective, maybe even a superhero.
Edward had all of these characteristics and so much more. He was a Son, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend. He never knew a stranger and would always make everyone feel welcomed. Anyone who truly knew him knew he had such a big heart. The word love does not come close to describing how Edward felt for his family. He cherished his parents and recently took joy in returning home to live with his Mother. He had an unbreakable bond with his children Edward Anthony, Alexandra, Jennifer, and his Daughter in law Elizabeth and was as proud of them as a Father can be. Edward absolutely adored his grandchildren Kayla, Nathaniel, and Kingston, and his legacy will live on through the kindness and devotion he instilled in his loved ones.
It was important for Edward to be around all of his family, whether it was a family BBQ, a Fourth of July party at Grandma’s house, or to celebrate a birthday. Edward touched everybody’s lives and made it a point to make all those he encountered feel so important and special. He showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need, and would defend and stand up for his loved ones should the need arise. He kept us safe.
Edward has always had a passion for football and even played on a Chicano Football League “The Badboys.” It was tackle football; no pads, pro rules, and no crying! He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching them play football with his family and friends. He now has the best seat in the house and is watching the games amongst the stars.
Edward was musically inclined and poured his heart and soul into his music. Edward played the trumpet and was always willing to share his knowledge of music with anyone who wanted to learn. He especially enjoyed Tejano music and brought it to life in Greeley, CO. He is known for putting bands together (Tejano Style, Poquito Maz, and most recently Los MBoys) that mainly consisted of his Son, Brothers, Nephews, his Niece and his close Friends. Edward’s song may have ended, but his music lingers on.
“You never said I’m leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knew why. A million times, we needed you, a million times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life, we loved you dearly; in death, we love you still. In our hearts, you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.”
Edward was born June 27, 1959, to Juan and Mary Maltos in Ft. Morgan, CO. His Mother Mary Maltos survives him. He is also survived by his Daughters, Jennifer Wright and Alexandra Maltos, Daughter in law Elizabeth Beina Maltos, three Grandchildren Kayla Wright, Nathaniel Maltos, and Kingston L. Maltos, Sister Margaret Maltos, two Brothers Jerry (Carolyn) Maltos and Richard (Tracy) Maltos, and many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Juan Maltos, his son Edward Anthony Maltos, and his sister Gloria Maltos.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Stoddard Funeral Home with Inurnment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
