Elizabeth Cervantes

Elizabeth Cervantes, 82, of Milliken, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Bonell Good Samaritan Center surrounded by her family. She then joined her husband of 64 years. Elizabeth was born on November 5, 1931 in Crowell, Texas to Luz and Ricarda (Jaso) Leija.

Elizabeth was raised and educated in Texas. She moved to Colorado in 1956. Then, she and her family moved to Milliken in 1960 and have been there since.

On July 17, 1949, Elizabeth married Macario C. “Mike” Cervantes at the Wiedeman Farm, west of Evans. He died on November 4, 2013.

Elizabeth was a very active member of Aposento Alto Assembly of God, Milliken for 53 years. She also was active with the Women’s Ministry at the church. She loved to sew and cook for her family. She was the founder of Betana Asamblia, a Spanish Assembly of God in Tulia, Texas.

She was a wonderful homemaker, but also worked at Bayley Manufacturing in Greeley as a seamstress and as a cook at Johnson’s Corner, both for several years. Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and loved time spent with her family.

Elizabeth is survived by four daughters, Elena Ramirez (Efrain) and Mikki Cervantes all of Milliken and Glorya Chavez (Lino) and Christine Cardenas all of Grand Junction; one son, Eddie Cervantes (Karen) of Greeley; special sister, Mary Medina of Amarillo, Texas and sisters, Abby Ruiz of Tulia, Sally Sanchez (Leo) of Greeley and Ester Tanguma of Porterville, California; three brothers, Israel Leija (Amalia) of Tulia, Donnie Leija of Amarillo and Treno Leija (Connie) of Dallas; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special niece and nephews, “The Invaders” all of Amarillo and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.

Visitation 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Celebration of Life 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at Grace Community Church, Johnstown.

Interment Johnstown Cemetery.
