It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved "Daddy" Eloy Perea Junior, who went to sleep in Jesus on January 28, 2025, in Greeley, Colorado, at the age of 74. He is now waiting for the Lord's return.
Eloy was born on December 28, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, to Eloy Perea Sr. and Beatriz Sanchez. He grew up in the Denver projects, working alongside his family in the fields, an experience that helped shape his work ethic and a strong sense of family.
Throughout his life, Eloy lived in several places, including Denver and Greeley, Colorado, and Bakersfield, California, but he always considered Greeley his home. Eloy said, "If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Greeley because my kids are here." He graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1969 and later served as an Aircraft Maintainer and Mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. After his time in the military, he worked as a custodian for the Stockdale, California Schools until he became disabled due to complications from having Valley Fever & double pneumonia simultaneously.
Eloy was baptized in 1998 and became a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he shared his love for God and served others by drawing slides for Pastor John Martin's sermons and sharing his stories for Children's Corner. He loved studying the Bible and found peace and purpose in his faith. He was a devoted father to his daughters and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing his wisdom and humor with them. His favorite activities included woodworking, upholstery, dancing, singing, painting, and drawing. Eloy was a man of incredible creativity, and his artistic spirit will always be remembered by those who knew him.
In addition to his family, Eloy was deeply passionate about his faith, his love of religious and oldies music, and his Denver Broncos. He was known for his sense of humor and often told goofy jokes, sometimes scaring people with his playful antics. He quickly said, "All I need is a date!" when Eloy felt he looked good, and he lived life with an infectious joy. One of his most memorable stories was of a mysterious man he met at the bus stop who knew his name and told him, "It's going to be okay, Eloy, just look UP…" Eloy believed that the man was an angel sent from God to comfort him in a difficult time. His faith in God's care never wavered, and he lived by the belief that "God will take care of me."
Eloy's greatest joys were his faith, family, and "yellow dog," Moses, whom he loved dearly. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and his love for his daughters and their accomplishments was immeasurable. He was also very close to his late sister Sandra and brother-in-law Floyd O'Dowd, his sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law Abraham Martinez, many nephews and nieces, and other family members. His generosity knew no bounds; he was always ready to help others and would give you the shirt off his back if needed. Eloy's love for his faith and family will be a part of his legacy.
Eloy was preceded in death by his mother, Beatriz Sanchez, sister, Sandra O'Dowd, and granddaughter, Annessa Perea-Sanchez. Eloy lives on through his father, Eloy Perea Sr.; daughters, Tanya Perea-Flores, Velvet Trujillo, and Beatriz Perea-Fryer; his grandchildren, Charisma Flores, Aidan Flores, and Charly Trujillo and his siblings, Elizabeth Martinez, Dorothy Allen, David Perea, and William Ashworth.
A visitation for Eloy will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Allnutt Funeral Service - Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634. A celebration of life will be following the visitation at 1:30 P.M. Please join the family for a reception honoring Eloy's life after the service. In lieu of sending flowers, the family is requesting plants instead of flowers.
Eloy's hugs, "love pats," and being called "Stinker, Precious, and Baby" will be incredibly missed. Eloy's family will forever treasure his love, laughter, and the perfect example of unwavering faith. His spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
