

Elsie’s father took her out of school in the eighth grade to work in the sugar beet fields. It was her goal to finish her education. Later in life she accomplished her goal by receiving her AA from Aims Community College and her BA from the University of Northern Colorado.
On July 16, 1938 Elsie Married Elmer Lawrence Baker. Elsie worked for Wright & McGill and in the UNC cafeteria. She attended the Greeley Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 70 years. Elsie was a member of the Evans and Greeley Senior Centers and the Red Hatters at the Greeley Place.
Elsie enjoyed traveling with her daughter and family. She ate at Western Sizzlin’ on a daily basis. Elsie was pleasant, grateful and at times could be very dramatic. Elsie had a creative imagination. She enjoyed oil painting and passed her artistic skills to many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elsie continued painting up until she got sick. She was a great teacher, teaching her children and grandchildren how to cook and sew.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Bonnalee (Mark) Oster of Greeley; son, Diwiatt Barker of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Darlene Clarke of Cerritos, California; two brothers, LeRoy Dupper of San Bernardino, California and Daniel Dupper of Denver; five grandchildren, Debbie Barker, Darren Barker, Shana Oster, Shawn Oster and Stacie Drake and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, and her siblings, Ruth Hallauer, William Dupper, Raymond Dupper and Doris Taylor.
Friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Greeley Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
