Eralia M. Lopez

She was born on May 18, 1924, to Edumenio and Cleotilde (Vialpando) Sanchez.

Eralia married Abade Lopez on February 8, 1946, in Chama, Colorado.

Eralia worked for the University of Northern Colorado for 17 years. She retired from UNC in 1981.

Eralia had a beautiful heart. She did not have a jealous bone in her body. She was honest, sincere and very humble. She was also a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was also a very devoted daughter-in-law. She lost her mother when her mother was only 50 years old. She loved her mother-in-law, Magdalena Lopez, just like her own mother.

Eralia was an active member of the Greeley Senior Center where she attended a weekly bible study, and was also active with their arts and crafts group. She loved to embroider, and many women at the Senior Center sought out her work.

In addition, she was an active member of Los Ancianos Alegres Mexicanos (LAMM). Many of her best friends belong/belonged to this senior group, and Eralia and her husband were active members of LAMM for many years.

Eralia was a lifetime member of the National Women’s Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Women’s Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans.

Eralia is survived by her seven children: Ray Lopez and his wife, Juanita in LaSalle, Filbert Lopez in Thornton, Delbert Lopez of Lomita, CA, Kathy Lopez in Denver, Diane Berg of Gilbert, AZ, Clarence Lopez (Penny Solano) in Greeley and Rick Lopez and his wife, Lin of Redondo Beach, CA.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition, Eralia is survived by three brothers and two sisters.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother and a sister.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, immediately followed by a Rosary from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, both at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.

A Christian burial mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Saint Peter's Catholic Church, 915 12th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80631. Interment and graveside services at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
