On Tuesday June 5th at the age of 68 Ernie passed away at Longmont United Hospital around 4:15pm.
He graduated from Greeley Central High school in 1969 then served in the US Marines from 1969 thru 1971 as an E4 CPL with honorable discharge. Ernie worked very hard to provide for his family. He met many wonderful people and made many great friends. Ernie's health had been deteriorating for some time but he always stayed in good spirits, a lot of that had to do with where he lived and the people in his life. He was lucky to find companionship with a wonderful lady, Mickey Robinson who has given and shared love with Ernie and helped him until the end of his life.
Ernie was a devoted father; he enjoyed his children, taking small trips to visit family and sitting out in the fresh air having conversations with his friends.
Ernie is survived by his children: Carla and Robert Vasquez (Mother Phyllis) and Chrystal, Ryan and Shawn Vasquez (Mother Kim) his father Carlos Vasquez, Brother Louie Vasquez (Linda), and sisters Jean Echeverria (Max), Frances Forbes (Orin) and Sara Walker. Many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by mother Lucy, an infant brother Carlos Jr, and both sets of grandparents.
Ernie will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He knew how fortunate he had been throughout his life and fought one hell of a battle any Marine would be proud of.
Ernie wants the family and friends to move on with life and enjoy everyday with ones they love. Life is short keep living it.
