My Dad, Manuel Sena, served in the Navy during WWII as a pharmacist's assistant in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba at a Naval medical facility there.  He helped treat wounded soldiers from 1943 - 1945.  Manuel passed away on Februrary 14, 2011.  In the last months of his life he found an old photo of one of his patients which he put up on the wall by his bed.  The photo is signed A. Eugene Allen.  My dad told me that Eugene had been his favorite patient and that he was a wonderful man.  The war ended and he never connected with Eugene again.  My father has always been an excellent judge of character and he really liked what he saw in Eugene.  From what I can see, he was a very special man.  I do hope that I have found the right Eugene Allen and apoligize, if I have not.  I'm attaching the photo which was signed by Eugene Allen and the inscription on the back of the photo.

Jody, Bruce and families,
I am sorry to hear about your Dad's recent passing.  I remember the time I went skiing with your family back in the late 60's or early 70's.  I also remember the good times we had at the Bank Picnic's up in Silvan Dale Guest Ranch when Dad (Henry Gosselin) worked with Gene at the Weld County Bank later renamed the United Bank of Greeley.  I am also sorry to hear that your Mom past away a few years ago. With our deepest sympathies...

Jody and Bruce,
I wanted to express my sympathy and thoughts to you and your families as you grieve the passing of your father.  Working with him in our banking years we shared laughs and many good times together.  What will be missed mostly will be Gino??Ts quirky jokes.  He was a very special man and his passing does not come without a tear.

To Bruce, Jody and families,
I was so sad to hear about the passing of your dad, Gene.  He was such a breath of fresh air as a volunteer at the hospital in Greeley.  Mom and Dad enjoyed his friendship and surprise visits at their home (when he arrived by bicycle!) or at NCMC. He always made them feel better. He even made the caregivers at the hospital feel better. In fact, everyone he visited at NCMC felt better after an encounter with your dad.  He was a man of character and I, like so many others, valued his opinion.  He wrote several letters to the editor in the Greeley paper and his statements were true to his character and values.  We were all blessed, in multiples by Gene.  He will be missed.

To the Allen family WE have known Gene since the early 70s.He was an amazing man.We enjoyed our visits at our home on hilltop.We will miss him. God Bless. George & Barb Forsythe

I only knew Gene for about a year, but he was a pretty cool guy, me and my brother are kind of nerds about the WWII stuff so he told us some of his stories and it was really cool. The first thing we noticed was that he was WAY more ... in shape than us even when we were 13 and he's 88. For Gene's family i just have to say it must have been a blessing knowing him, and that he will be missed.

I am sorry for your loss, me, my brother, and my dad hang out with gene and discussed WW2, hiking and flying. He will be missed by everyone he has known.

To the Allen Family,
      We have never met.  I was one of Gene's new friends.  We met just this past year at a VFW function.  He was so sparky and full of life, we struck up a conversation, and he wound up visiting with me at the Greeley Police Department where I work.  Later me met for meals at the airport, and my home where he told my 13 year old boys stories about his service in WW II, and the old days here in Weld County.
     He was a special guy, and was very proud of his family.  We heard about what good skiers you were!  I am sorry for your loss.  You were certainly blessed to have such a special father.

Bruce and Jody,
I have fond memories of both your parents.  Always ready for conversation.  Mostly I always will remember Gene's hippy van that he lent us to go on our spring break ski trip through Colorado.  Living in the van for the week was quite an adventure thanks to Gene.

Dear Jody, Bruce and families:
I'm so sorry for your loss, but we do have the confidence in Gene's joy because of Christ's resurrection.  Praise GOD for the peace that this brings into our lives.  I am so thankful that he is no longer lonely, but is in sweet fellowship with his Savior and Lord.
