She was born December 8, 1922 at Steamboat Springs, Colorado to James Henry and Edith (Wright) Hitchens.
Eileen grew up in Steamboat Springs where her folks had a ranch. As a child she was active in 4H and she received Certificates of Achievement in 1933, 1934, 1937 and 1939. She graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1940.
After graduation she later moved to Ft. Morgan where she worked as a bookkeeper at Jack’s Bean Company. Eileen met Jake Sagel and they were married July 2, 1955 in Ft. Morgan. He died February 15, 2001.
They moved to Greeley in 1962 where she worked as a bookkeeper for NorColo Distributing until retirement.
She was a very active member of Christ Community Church. Eileen enjoyed working in her flower gardens, was an avid sports fan and would watch about any event on television. She loved swans because of their unique beauty and grace. Above all was her love for her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her sons Garry Sagel and Scott Sagel both of Greeley; sister Imogene Monks of Beaumont, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren Melisa Hoffmannbeck (Greg), Kyle Rudisill (Hilary), Kevin Rudisill (Mary), all of Greeley; great grandchildren Brody, Tristan, Tye, and Brooklyn.
She is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Sandra Rudisill who died June 18, 2010, a sister Audrey West, and a brother James Henry Hitchens Jr.
Private family services will be held.
