

Frances was born on July 28, 1930, in Lucerne, Colorado, to Juan S. and Elisa (Apodaca) Gavaldon. She was raised alongside her two brothers and two sisters, forming close family bonds that remained important throughout her life.
On May 5, 1950, she married Valentine Perez Sr. in Greeley, Colorado. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage until his passing in 2003. During their life together, Frances and Valentine built a strong partnership, opening their own business, Perez Dental Laboratory in 1966. In addition to running their business, they devoted many years to raising their 6 children and fostering other children, continuing to open their home and hearts even after their own children were grown.
Frances enjoyed cooking for others. She enjoyed playing games with her family, attending bingo, and visiting Central City. She was also a devoted fan of the Denver Bronco's and looked forward to watching their games. Above all, Frances cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which brought her the greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Elisa Gavaldon; her husband, Valentine Perez Sr.; her children, Rick Perez 1 and Debra Perez; her brothers, Johnny and Richard Gavaldon; her sisters, Adaline Garcia and Isabel Meza; her grandsons, Joseph Torrez and Ray Perez and her great-great grandson, Bentley Belknat.
Frances is survived by her children, Sandra Chavez (Tom), Marie Neergaard (Jack), Dolores Barclay, Valentine “Val” Perez Jr. (Joyce), and Rick Perez; along with 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her best friend of over 60 years, Evelyn Bjordahl.
A graveside service will be held on July 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens; 3400 W. 28th Street in Greeley; followed by a Celebration of Life for Frances.
