Francis Eugene “Gene” Hill, 87 of Greeley, passed away August 9, 2014 at Windsor Health Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Coffeyville, KS, on June 22, 1927 to Frank F. and Lenna E. (Kendall) Hill. Both preceded him in death.
Gene was raised with two brothers, Delbert Hill, Austin, TX, and Donald Hill who preceded him in death. He married Anna M. (Jensen) Hill on September 2, 1945. She passed away in 2012.
Gene and Anna moved to Colorado in 1947, where they made their home in Longmont, Boulder and finally Greeley from 1963 to present. Of their union came three children, Sharon “Shay” Haywood of Hondo, TX, Brenda “Bea” Karges of Greeley, and Jay (Laura) Hill of Greeley. In addition there are 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Gene is a World War II Veteran having served with the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Alabama. He worked for Beatrice Foods (Meadow Gold) as a semi-truck driver from 1952 until his retirement in 1989.
Gene was a member of the Greeley Foursquare Church for many years and attended the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Greeley. He held membership in the Teamster Union and the American Legion.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
