

Francisco “Frankie” Pisaña, 74, of Greeley, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at his home. Frankie was born to Ysaias Pisaña and Guadalupe (Pisano) Pisaña in Rockvale, Colorado and moved to Greeley, Colorado in July 1947. He attended Greeley High School until he enlisted in the National Guard in Oct. 1957 until Dec. 1957, when they found out he was too young. He then enlisted in Dec. 1957 in the Navy at the age of 17, where his amazing journey started. He has been around the world twice and sailed on the USS Montrose (APA-212), USS Boston(CAG-1), USS Providence(CLG-6), USS Norton Sound (AVM-1), and two tours in Vietnam River Division 594. He received a Purple Heart, Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon, Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal w/Combat dist. device, Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), Vietnam Service Medal, Engagement XI, and Vietnamisese Cross of Gallantry.
Frankie is survived by his wife Mary H. Pisaña (Lujan) married 53 years, his children Adelita Chavez (Cecil) Greeley, Lycia Pisaña Greeley, Patricio Pisaña Denver, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, sisters Josie (Tommy) Morales, Lupe (Ramon) Alvarado, Rachel (Bill) Becander all of Greeley, Annie (Mel) Medrano of Texas, and Candy (Bob) Bernal of Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nellie Cervantes, and brothers Ramon Pisaña and Michael (Mikie) Pisaña.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
