Gary Clayton Knight, 68 of Greeley, passed away peacefully February 10, 2015 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. Gary was born December 31, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Woodrow and Patricia Knight. The family moved to Greeley when Gary was a child.

Gary served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1972, and was honorably discharged. He was awarded the National Defense medal, the Veterans Service medal, and the ASNR Service Ribbons 1975-1977, for good conduct.

In 1966 he married Linda Starkey; they later divorced. They had one child, Shawna. He later met and married Jane Lindahl Baggot on August 23, 1972, the mother of Kimberly.

Gary worked for Monfort Packing, drove over the road across Texas assisting a close friend and returned to Greeley and began working for the City of Greeley Transportation (The Bus) as a driver, team leader, driver trainer and equipment coordinator. He was also on the Board of Directors. He also drove a semi-truck over the road. After being injured, he worked then finally retired from StarTek.

He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 50 and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 3. He coached ladies softball and his daughter’s soccer team. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed camping and fishing.

Gary was a proud Navy veteran, a hard worker, a wonderful husband, loyal brother, and a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Patty.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters Kim (Eric) Lorenson, Shawna (David) Estreich, Karrie (Tony) Gaston and his only baby boy, Gary J. (Michelle) Knight. He was much loved by his 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons. He is also survived by his brothers Woody (Carla), Keith (Nancy), and sisters Mary (Dell) Brooks and Sharon (Cliff) Richard.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Reception in the Allnutt Reception Center.
