Gayleen Johnson, 67 of Greeley, passed away November 17, 2014, at Hospice of Northern Colorado. She was born December 7, 1946 in Warrensburg, MO, to Gerhardt C. and Yvonne J. (Helvig) Jaeger Werner. She married John Johnson on June 28, 1968 in Sedalia, MO.

Gayleen lived in Sedalia, MO, graduating from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO. She went on to earn her teaching degree from the University of Missouri, and taught 4th grade for six years at Sweet Springs, one year (4th and 5th grades) at Butler Missouri Ballard School, five years (4th grade) at Billie Martinez Elementary, and fourteen years (4th grade) at Christa McAuliffe.

Gayleen followed her children’s sports careers closely, enjoyed golf and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association, and won several titles. She was very competitive, sewed, was artistic, had a strong passion for family and loved to shop! She liked to travel, enjoyed home design, was a great cook, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and Sudoku. She especially loved her granddaughters. She also loved chocolate and kept her fudge recipe a secret to this day.

She is survived by her husband John Johnson; mother, Yvonne Jaeger Werner; son Scott Johnson; daughter Kristin (Kevin) Whyrick; sister Rebecca (Jeff) Wimann; grandchildren Katelyn J. Whyrick, Lauren F. Whyrick, Meghan E. Whyrick, Gabrielle E. Metzger, and Ella K. Johnson; great-grandson, Theodore Easton.

She was preceded in death by her father Gerhardt Jaeger; and sister Vicki Spragg.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow starting at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
