

George Osborne, Jr. 84, of Evans, Colorado passed away on August 22, 2021. He passed away at his home with his wife and children. George Jr. was born on July 2,1937 in Balzer, Mississippi to George Osborne Sr. and Almer McCullough. He was married to Clydene Steele on December 28, 1958, in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
As a child, George Jr. and his family worked and lived on a farm as sharecroppers in Clarksdale. In 1958, George Jr. and his wife left Clarksdale and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they lived for 7 years. After that he then moved his family to Greeley, Colorado, where he resided until his death.
George Jr. had a passion for gardening, fishing, the family dogs (Roscoe, Montezuma, and S.D. Muggles) and his Friday night prison ministry. During his lifetime, he worked construction by day for 50 years and as an assistant manager at Monfort at night for 47 years. He fully retired from construction in 2002.
George Jr. was a protector and provider for his family. He was a big kid at heart that always wanted to be in the mix of things and fun. But his children and grandchildren knew he was strict as well. His children would like forward to the annual family road trips, tossing the ball in the yard and Friday night’s creature feature on tv. Where he made homemade teacakes, popcorn, and ice cream for them.
A source of pride and great love he had was for his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. They greatly cherish their grandpa and even called him “Super Grandpa.” George Jr. could always be found playing basketball in the driveway, giving them WaWas and running foot races down the street with them. Children always brought a smile to his face.
He attended and served as Associate Pastor at Glad Tidings Church for the last 20 years. George Jr. was highly active in his church where he taught Sunday school every Sunday, sung in the choir and would visit the sick and shut in. The church and serving the Lord was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife Clydene Osborne; son Frederick A. “Papa” (Debbie B.) Osborne; daughters Olympia Faye Osborne and Debbie Ann Osborne; brothers Martin (Callie) Osborne, Willie James (DeCarol) Osborne, Phil M. (Judy) Osborne and Richard (Stella) Osborne; sisters Mattie Mae (Spencer) Epps and Almer Osborne; grandchildren Edred C. (Joanna) Bryan II, Nayo L. Thomas, Janee L. Osborne and Jordon J.S. Osborne; great-grandchildren Trista Jordan, Jashon Jordan, Journey Tolbert, Edred C. Bryan III, Elise Bryan and Jream “Taco” Tolbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ruthie Mae Osborne, brother Robert Lee Osborne, sisters Mary Lee Osborne-Royster, Diane Osborne, Patricia Osborne-Raglin, Roosevelt Osborne, and Burdie Osborne-Turner.
A visitation will be held from 3-7:00 P.M. Friday, August 27, 2021, at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
