Dorla and Family,
We first met Jerry when he attended a bee-keeping class Randy taught. Jerry was enthusiastic in learning about bees, and as his knowledge increased, so did his wonder.  His labor expanded as well until he realized that he had to limit the extent of his hobby.  He often took the time to listen and to chat, and his eyes and heart expressed his appreciation and amazement about all forms of life. Our sympathy to you for the loss of a kind and loving man.

Jerry was a great neighbor and a wonderful friend. He seemed to know everyone in the neighborhood by name and was always ready with a friendly greeting and a kind word. We looked forward to his visits as he strolled around the neighborhood, often bearing gifts of honey from his hives and fresh Swiss chard from his garden. 
We feel privileged to have known Jerry and will miss him deeply. Our warmest regards to Dorla and the rest of the Dittrich family.

I knew Gerry when he worked at the Surgical Lab and then at the VTH. We all missed him when he retired. He always had great stories and a great sense of humor. I remember seing both of you at the Cancer Center when my husband was recieving radiation. Gerry was looking for his hat!!

No one could tell a better story.  We have many fond memories of Minnesota and Colorado visits.It's like the Dittrichs and Timms are our relatives, too. I picture Gerald up in heaven -  telling stories - and Howard laughing. He will be missed by so many.

Jean, I am very sad this morning as I  begin to share my memories of you and my Uncle Gerald.  And of course, the pencil story comes to mind.  Cindy and Laurie, you may not know this.  When I was very young, your Mom and Dad came to visit our family over Christmas. They had gifts for us. They were pencils with our ""names"" on them. Those pencils meant so much to me that I shared the story at my Dad's funeral. 
We loved your visits back to Minnesota, sometimes on the motorcycle and sometimes by car.  It was always a good time for the family to get together.  Guess what, there is a family picnic scheduled at Kenny's home in Elgin on June 14th, hope to see you and your family there.
In Colorado, when I was able to visit, you welcomed me with open arms.  We laughted (gosh he could tell stories), talked and ate steak together.  (More than once I believe.)
He was my Uncle and I have been blessed!

Gerry was a huge help to me as a young and naive faculty..we were both Minnesota natives and maybe that started a bond..he even came into my office one day and took my moose horns to make a professional looking wood wall holder..he thought my old was not good enough..we shared gardening stories and bad jokes..Gerry was a friend and key player in devlopment of the current Vet Teaching Hospital which leaves 1000's of students as a legacy..he will be missed but remembered..Steve

What wonderful memories I have of Jerry at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital!  He had the best sense of humor.  Always willing to help with any project I was involved with...I am sorry he had so much suffering toward the end of his life. He will remain in my heart forever.

I have many fond memories of talks with Jerry when he was at the VTH.  I
particularly remember he was one of the very few US citizens who actually
liked VEGEMITE!  His Australian friend wishes him ""vale amicus"" and sends

Dorla and family,
I will always remember Gerry for how he could make me laugh. I especially remember his stories about riding his motorcycle to Sturgis, SD and how shocked he was at what he saw. 
I was Gerry's supervisor for a number of years when he worked at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. When he first found out I was to be his supervisor he came to me concerned because he had NEVER had a women supervisor. I told him I thought it would be painless. The next day he came in and told me he had told Dorla about his concerns, she told him ""get over it"". I guess he did because when he finally retired he told me I had been a great supervisor and it really had been painless.
I will miss Gerry and his smile.
My thoughts are with you.

Although we have gone our separate ways these many years I still have warm memories of the ""Grub School"" days.  With sincere sympathy.

Dear Dorla and family, I recognized Gerry's name and knew at once it was the Dorla from my Kahler hospital surgical days. I am so sorry to read of Gerry,s death. I send my love and sympathy. I have occasion to drive by the house you lived in here in Rochester and often wondered if you were still in CO. I will remember you in prayer. Joan Whiting

     I can't tell you how many times I think of the fun we had sitting around your kitchen table talking about everything under the sun.  I truly loved Gerry he always made me laugh and feel like a member of the family.  I will miss him as I miss my Mom - My prayers are with you and your families.

Please accept my condolences on Jerry's passing.  I learned a great deal working with him throughout the years in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  He knew a lot about every aspect of the operation and was willing to share his knowledge with everyone he came in contact with.  He could communicate with anyone regardless of their roles or responsibilities.  He shared many stories with me that I will always remember.  After he retired he continued to work with us and kept us all smiling.  He shared his passion for many things especially the family, outdoor activities and his motorcycle.  He touched many lives within our community.  He will be missed by many current and former employees of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

I want you all to know how much I liked Jerry.  If it wasn't for him and Leon I wouldn't know how to tie flies.  He was an amazing man and I enjoyed all the conversations that I had with him.  I can not express how much all of your friendship meant to me after Steve passed away. I am very blessed to have meet him and all of you.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this sad time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I miss the good times and always think of Jerry when I go to Loveland and look to see if the light is on at the house above the lake! My prayers are with you, Bonnie

When I think of Jerry it always brings a smile to my face.  He was a lovely, kind man who will be missed very much.

I remember Jerry well from CSU-VTH.  He always had a smile and a hello for everyone.  He will be missed.  My thoughts are with you.
