

Gilbert Donald Kaiser (Gib), 93, of Greeley Colorado, a devoted Christian and member of Trinity Lutheran Church passed away on September 27, 2025. He was born on January 15, 1932, in Windsor Colorado to Jacob and Pauline Kaiser. A graduate of Ault High School, he enlisted in the Navy, March 28, 1951, where he was deployed aboard the USS Cushing DD-797. There he reached the rank of Petty Office Gunnersmate, Second Class, responsible for the operating, maintaining and repairing of naval weapon systems. His decorations included the certificate for Meritorious Service for his repair and maintenance of 40 mm guns yielding consistent performance. During the Korean War the USS Cushing was assigned to Task Force 77. Post war the ship made a good will tour around the world stopping at many ports. He often looked back at his time in the Navy fondly and questioned whether he should have made it his career. After receiving an honorable discharge on March 25, 1955, he married Nancy Jeremiassen and had a son David Paul. His civilian career consisted of jobs in farming, wholesales salesman for Beatrice Foods and Carnation Co., store manager for Woolworth in Cortez, CO. and lastly a laboratory technician for the Biology Department at the University of Northern Colorado. After he retired much of his time was spent in the garage restoring cars. He was most fond of Chevrolet Corvairs, Ford Pintos. Other hobbies included making scale model airplanes and water skiing.
Gib is survived by his son David Paul Wagner; brother, Thomas (Theressa); niece, Christine, her son Christian; nephew, James (Lorrie) their daughter, Taylor; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob & Pauline (Specht), many aunts and uncles, and grandparents.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Avenue, Greeley, CO. 80634 on October 15, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 am followed by the Service at 11:00 am. Burial follows at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th Street, Greeley, CO, 80634. Contributions may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
