Mr. Harold Lee “Skip” Winter, son of the late Jacob and Hanna (Winder) Winter was born October 1, 1929 in Eaton, Colorado. He attended Galeton Public Schools. He died on Wednesday, February 13. 2019 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Harold served two years in the U.S. Army and eight years as a reservist. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal in Germany and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Darlene June Brug in December of 1950. They had two children, Ricky (Cyndi) of Clinton, Iowa and Mark of Greeley; two grandchildren, Jake of Iowa City, Iowa and Jordan (Tanner) Voss of Gooselake, Iowa and sisters, Violet Grebb of Quincy, Washington, Marjorie Becker of Denver, JoAnn Cecil (Steve) of Ft. Morgan and Linda Winter of Severance.
Harold was employed with the City of Greeley Street Department for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was proudly a member of the VFW Post 6624. He enjoyed polka dancing, camping, fishing, gambling, bingo and going for coffee. He loved to tease everybody and later in life he really enjoyed watching “Cops” with his eyes closed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, brothers, Arthur, Larry, Ronnie and Richard and his sister, Shirley Kerns.
He will be dearly missed and forever loved and cherished by his sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, surviving sisters, Violet, Marjorie, JoAnn and Linda, special niece, Connie Bopp and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
