Lit a candle in memory of Harvey Griffith

The Griffith family would give ""the clothes off their back"" to any person.  Exactly what he and Donna did for us in 1984 when all of our clean laundry was stolen (unbelievably) from a laundromat - mostly all of our son's baby clothes.   Harvey and Donna replaced them with the next sizes up.  In so many ways, Harvey will never be forgotten.  Sandy & Doug Grice, Glen Haven

I was so saddened to hear of Harvey's passing. He was one of the first people I met when I arrived in Estes Park. What a character he was. I always enjoyed running into Harvey around town. Didn't matter where or when it was he always had time to stop and chat and usually share a laugh and of course give me a bit of a hard time about something! I feel I was truly blessed having known him. He really was one of the ""good guys"". I will miss seeing him around with his quirky little smile.

I am sad that Harvey is gone.  We lived next to him and his family for about 14 years.  We first got to know them when we inadvertently ended up sharing an Australian Shepard because they fed her better than we did.  Puppy chow just doesn't compare with leftover steak, new lunch meat and other yummy table scraps.

I still remember him ""making me"" (Actually, he bribed me with fresh coffee.) inspect the 2 coyotes that he killed with only one shot from a couple of hundred yards away.  I think he called it ""economical chicken insurance"" or something at least that colorful.    

He was always happy to give advice and loan a pipe fitting or 10.  Of course he would tell you how he wasn't going to be Mr. Nice Guy this time, but he always treated you to as much coffee as you wanted and never charged extra when you came to replace the part that you borrowed.  Seems like I always ended up 4 cups of coffee ahead...or more.  

He once loaned me a street key that he made himself and wouldn't let me give it back...every time I see it or use it, I'll remember a generous man whose bark was much worse than his gentle bite.  No more Mr. Nice Guy...OK if you say so.  

I already miss seeing him in Safeway and the Shell station, telling me how he would burn his money if he had mine, but knowing that he'd give me some of his money if I was in need.  Estes Park will miss him.
