Herbert Anthony Kramer

Herbert Anthony Kramer, 85, passed away on September 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Jean for 63 years, and a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Born in 1941 in Sterling, Colorado to Margaret (Piel) and Anton Kramer, Herb spent his early childhood in nearby Stoneham until the age of 7, before moving to the La Salle area. There he attended school, participated in 4-H, and even earned the title of Grand Champion in the hog division. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work, and continued that throughout his life and career. After retirement he enjoyed working with children as a school crossing guard and volunteering at NCMC.

His greatest work, however, was providing for and caring for his family. On February 23, 1963, he married the love of his life, Jean. Together they shared 63 years of marriage, and Herb was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. His faith was a steady and important part of his life, which gave him the strength and comfort to guide him through every season. To his family and friends, he was an anchor showing his love by always being there for them with his bright smile and twinkle in his eye.

Herb loved woodworking, puzzles, and creating handmade gifts. He loved traveling with Jean, and going for rides just to see where the road leads. He enjoyed camping and other adventures. He supported his family by attending their sporting events, concerts, graduations, and just about any celebration. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for the funny sayings he came up with, tokened as “Herbisms”. These brought laughter to the room, and are cherished family memories. Those who knew Herb will remember his constant smile, happiness, kindness, humor, sweetness, care, humility, determination, strong work ethic, and the love and pride he had for his family. He was loved by everyone he met, and will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on forever.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; sons Rick (Chris) Loveland, CO, Dan (Tami) Greeley, CO, Mark (Tracy) Parker, CO; daughters Ann (Corey) Denver, CO, and Jill (Matt) Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Lukas, and his parents and all of his 9 siblings.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Greeley. The rosary will begin at 3:30 pm, followed by Mass at 4:00 pm. There will be a reception following Mass. Family and friends are invited to join together in prayer, remembrance, and celebration.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the COPD Foundation in Herb’s memory.
