He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, service, and quiet strength that touched the lives of many.
Born on February 14, 1941, to Theodore and Carmen Peralez, Herb grew up in the Gilcrest, Colorado area, where he developed the values of hard work, humility, and dedication that would define his life.
Herb pursued his passion for the arts and engineering with great determination. He studied at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in Minnesota, Southern Colorado State Junior College in Pueblo, and the University of Colorado Boulder, continually expanding his talents and knowledge.
His career reflected both his artistic sensibilities and technical expertise. Herb worked as a graphic artist for Greeley National Bank and United Bank of Greeley, and as a display designer for Fashion Bar, Inc. in Greeley, Boulder, and Lakewood. In 1964, he joined Home Light and Power Company, where he contributed as a drafter, junior engineering technician, and editor of the company’s public newsletter.
In 1969, Herb began a long and fulfilling chapter with Miner and Miner Engineering Consultants, Inc. in Windsor. As an imaging designer, he brought a rare blend of technical precision and artistic vision to his work until his retirement.
Herb was not only accomplished professionally but also deeply devoted to his community. He was a longtime member of the Greeley Jaycees, earning 47 awards for merit and public service. He also served as an associate of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, a member of the United Way of Weld County’s budget committee, and a vocational engineering technology advisory board member. Additionally, he was a senior member of the National Institute of Certified Engineering Technologists and a faithful member of Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Perhaps one of the most profound expressions of Herb’s character was the loving care he provided to his mother, Carmen. For over 30 years, Herb dedicated himself to being her full-time caregiver. His selflessness and devotion were a testament to the depth of his compassion and sense of responsibility—qualities that defined every part of his life.
Herb will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his keen eye for beauty in both design and daily life, and his unwavering commitment to others. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched with his kindness, talent, and quiet resilience.
